It all starts with a K.I.S.S

Keep It Simple Stupid

Now isn't that a nice thought! But that's not what I am talking about. K.I.S.S is a powerful acronym for Keep It Simple Stupid, a powerful reminder not to over complicate things. It occurs to me that the more complex we make things the longer it takes us to get it done. Think about it we can only ever make one decision at a time yet we are always trying to make as many as possible and in quick succession. Not sure what I mean here is an example. When you get up in the morning you only have one decision to make, do you get out of … [Read more...]

Confession is good for the soul!

Confessions of a Divapreneur

They say that confession is good for the soul so on that premise I have to admit to not doing much writing over the last few days although I have been thinking about things a lot and have been listening to CDs and podcasts and watching DVDs which is of course useful but the task in hand was to write everyday. I realise that I am now berating myself for what I haven't done. Isn't that what we all do challenging ourselves about the things we didn't do that we thought we should and for all the things we did do that we are not so proud of. That … [Read more...]

I know what it feels like to be a caterpillar!

I know what it's like to feel like a caterpillar

I am a couple of days late in posting this one as I actually wrote this on Friday but as I wrote it by hand it took a little longer to get to the computer. Well we did have the weekend in between! I think I know how a caterpillar must feel when leaving the comfort zone of gliding across the ground for the darkness of the chrysalis on the way to becoming a beautiful butterfly because life is feeling quite transitional at the moment. I wanted to take Fridays off, but can you really take days off when you are still exploring what to do with … [Read more...]

Writers block is only temporary!

And then there's writers block!

I didn’t want to write anything yesterday, which in itself isn’t too bad my vision of my future is filled with words much of which I have penned myself but today is another day and I am not beating myself up about it (any more). I think my reluctance to put pen to paper or finger to keyboard had a lot to do with lots of priorities but in no particular order. Since deciding that I am going into business and therefore recognizing the need to set the right foundation I have been inundated with thoughts, ideas, perspectives, people and the … [Read more...]

Just do it!

Keenyah the entrepreneur

It’s been an amazing few days since last I wrote my diary, so much thinking and information and activity (all moving in the right direction I hope) that there wasn’t space to write a full entry. I did contemplate writing an entry just saying hi and reminding you that I am still here and on track, but it seemed too little so I did nothing. If I was going to write something I needed to write a lot. Isn’t that part of the challenge we face when stepping out in business and in life) we forget that the big things are actually made up of a … [Read more...]

Just keep it moving!

Keenyah the entrepreneur

I woke up this morning thinking that one of the reasons I struggle to get things done is because of all the clutter in my life and I'm not just talking about my desk, there's my car, my environment and of course my head. Something has to go and now I'm clear it's not me stuff needs to be sorted. We forget that even though we do and say the right things if we don't have our house in order in other ways it can all quite literally fall apart. My creative and business brain are working together on this one and we are looking at developing … [Read more...]

In the moment, in the moment, in the moment!

Keenyah the entrepreneur

“In the moment, in the moment, in the moment”, those were the words uttered at my script writing workshop this evening (yes, I am exploring lots of angles to keep me inspired) and it reminded me of the importance of not getting too caught up in what could have, would have, should have been. On the one hand this is a great approach but I am also aware that it is open to abuse and could be my get out of jail free card for not quite getting things done. Note to self must keep an eye on my desire to procrastinate. It really isn't … [Read more...]

Sometimes, space is all you need!

Keenyah the entrepreneur

That title sounds like the words from a song.  Maybe I'll think about song writing as another string to my bow! It's Monday night and I haven't written for a couple of days, I'm sure you probably thought I chickened out after all my play project starts started today but that's not true I was busy celebrating my birthday over the weekend and there was no internet access. Excuses, excuses, excuses! Isn't it interesting how we all have them, cleverly disguised as legitimate reasons why something doesn't work or why we can't do something … [Read more...]

Feedback is the breakfast of champions.

Keenyah the entrepreneur

I heard that quote somewhere and today I understand more fully what it means. I woke up this morning to find a comment on my writing from John Williams, the editor of 'Screw Work Let's Play' and I have to say not only was I excited about the fact that a very real person had read my words, it also proved the point I had shared so often with others, in order to get something different from the life you are currently living you have to do something different. Am I inspired to keep going, you betcha! I have to say that I had a fantastic day. … [Read more...]

It’s all about the mindset!

Keenyah the entrepreneur

I went to Waterstones bookstore Piccadilly London yesterday to talk about possibilities with a friend. The 5th floor has a wonderful view of the city but I must admit there was something missing, bring back Borders Bookstore I miss you! I remember meeting some very interesting people, one who immediately springs to mind is an American woman who was reading a novel. She would come back every day to read on from where she left off the day before. I guess that might have been part of the reason why Borders closed down, you could read and take … [Read more...]
