New Year new approach!

Welcome in 2012 with The Divalicious Times

It's a new year and we are blessed with a new canvas stretched out before us. Our mission is simply to fill it with colour and animation, as simple as that! But it is this simplicity that gives us the greatest challenges. How many resolutions have you, broken all before the year has really gotten started, how many plans have been aborted through too many challenges and obstacles? What would you need to do to make this year your best year yet? What is that essential ingredient that will guarantee on 31 December you are raising a glass of … [Read more...]

10 Permissions to be!

A donut - giving myself permission to eat one.

To eat or not to eat the donut that is the question! I made the decision and I just had a donut. So what I hear you say that's no big deal. Well it was for me. I thought about it and thought about it and even had dreams about it (okay that might be a bit excessive after all it’s just a donut). I then tried to work out just how that donut fitted in with my new approach to food and healthy eating and just how many inches it was going to put on my waistline and then I figured that with all of that worry, anxiety and pontificating, I had … [Read more...]

Your Bucket List

Write your bucket list

I delivered my first laughter workshop to an unsuspecting audience of disabled adults all wheelchair bound and I was humbled by the experience. What on earth did I have to complain about and furthermore their laughter was no less sincere than my own. Many of them had been sitting in that same chair for 30 years or in some cases a lot more. During the session it got onto the issues of what we can and cannot do and it got me thinking and I decided it was time to revisit my list of things I wanted to do and get down before it was all over. I know … [Read more...]

The Inspiration Circle

Inspiration Circle

I recently discovered The Inspiration Circle©. I don't know who else has been privileged to see it but I am choosing to claim it as my own discovery. I know that we have all in some way or another been touched by it but I am choosing to make it formal, give it a name and take ownership. There is something important about taking ownership of something, a sense of power and sometimes even control. In the realm of inspiration I am not claiming any kind of control of it but I am giving myself kudos for starting a little something in my neck of the … [Read more...]

What’s holding you back?

Bad habits vs Good habits

I came across an article recently from Match.com (I was just browsing honest!) entitled 'Women 10 habits that are keeping you single' which of course got me thinking and not just because I happen to be a woman who happens to be single, but more so about the many habits we are all supporting on a daily basis which is the real truth behind aborted and unfulfilled dreams. Sometimes our blockages and barriers to success are carefully hand-crafted internal structures and all of our own making. How is it that someone in similar circumstances with … [Read more...]

The new you

The Butterfly

What do you do with something that is past its sell by date and has little or no use to you now, unless it is to serve as a reminder of days gone by (and do you really want to be reminded of that?) Give it away, take it to a charity shop, or sell it on eBay are very plausible strategies when talking about inanimate objects that have been lurking in the back of the wardrobe or cupboard or simply been taking up valuable space but when you are talking about something a lot more personal and closer to home and to which you have a greater attachment … [Read more...]

How much of a rebel are you?

Divalicious Daily redshoes

I just read an article about Corinne Day the photographer credited with taking the first shots of Kate Moss who died recently. Whilst the story of her journey, her encounters and view of the world through her lens are insightful and moving what caught my attention was the account her boyfriend gave of when they first met. He says “..we were both on a train to Tokyo she was wearing a big white dress she was feminine and beautiful then when we both stepped off the train in a small town I saw she was wearing Dr Marten boots.” I love the … [Read more...]

Picture of YOU!

Smiling face

I was handed a small silver frame wrapped in tissue paper and given instructions to find a picture of me I loved, preferably smiling, and put it beside my bed and look at it in the morning and before I went to sleep at night. I have to admit that I wasn't particularly moved by this course of action but I went along with the task anyway, probably more to humor my friend than anything else. I found a picture taken of me on my recent birthday. I have to say I liked the way I looked in the shot so cut it to size and placed it in my new … [Read more...]

In your own handwriting.

Own handwritin font

Looking for a way to put a personal stamp on your emails and the letters you send (okay the last point was probably not something you do regularly) but you can also: Add a personal touch to all your documents. Use your handwriting for scrapbooking or journaling. Keep a permanent record of your children's handwriting. What ever purpose you choose you can turn your handwriting into a font that will give the personal touch to anything you do in less time. Here is a sample of my handwriting font. It is affectionately called 'Carole's … [Read more...]
